Sweet sound...
Came across this video on youtube of an S2000 lapping Fuji Speedway,
the sound of an S2000 going full-out on a track is definitely one of my favorites.

Do you have a.... HONDA!
Every so often I find myself surfing youtube for old and new car videos and ad's
Nissan has been long known for having some of the best and weirdest commercials.
This Honda commercial however might just be the best / most random I've ever seen...

Japan Needs Your Help!
We all love Japan and we all want to support the roots of our car love...
I won't go on about it too much, I've been lazy about it myself, if you can, go donate.
Canadian Red Cross
Ebisu has seen better days,
Tsukuba is also damaged from what I've read (they've canceled all events for time being)
and there aren't too many recent pictures of tracks in Japan after the Tsunami.
On the plus side though the Official Test for the SuperGT season opener has been canceled (Mar19-20)
but the first race at Okayama will still be held on April 2 - 3.
Check out http://supergt.net/en/ for updates.
Lets just hope for a quick and safe recovery, Long live Japan !

TE37 or TE72 ?
Recently a friend of mine picked up some Volk TE37 SL wheels for his R32 GTR.
Though it may be a source of drama among some die-hard fans,
there are some people who would never buy such expensive and high end rims for their own street car.
I've been told before that the Rota copy wheel, the Grid, is just as good for the price.
The Rota's weigh only a few pounds (2-3) more depending on size, but cost 1/3 that of the Volks.
All I can say is, once you get to see the real thing in person you can FEEL the difference.
Picking up the TE37 and seeing its amazing finished color, lightly chromed lip,
and its incredible lightweight in real life, definitely go to show the pictures online do it no justice.
Still though, anyone who knows me will know, I'm pretty... functional when it comes to auto part purchases.
I'd likely buy a few sets of tires for the lofty price of a high end set of wheels,
but still... those are some damn nice shoes for any ride!
BONUS:
One thought did occur to me when writing this post up,
for the price of a set of TE37's I could pick up a pretty sparkling example of a TE72,
there's one for sale on dorikaze.net that I would definitely rock old school.
For those not familiar, I'll just leave couple pics...

NSX Revenge
Its been a good few months for fans of the Honda NSX,
not only has Honda President Takanobu Ito semi-verified an NSX succesor based on the Super GT
racecar HSV-010 is once again in the works, there have been several tuners in Japan and the States both unveiling new cars and breaking records with new setups.
First up is the Kyushu Danji NSX which recently broke the NA Record for Tsukuba circuit
with an amazing 56 second lap time. (The former record was held by the ASM S2000)
The full story on this one is on Speedhunters,
its amazing to see a relatively unheard of group beat the record,
hopefully we'll see ASM counter soon! (gotta hold onto my S2000 pride!)
The Second car is the FX Motorsports NSX which is arguably the fastest Time Attack NSX anywhere.
It took the Super Lap Battle Unlimited FR record on Buttonwillow in November
and along with the Sierra Sierra Evo, smashed the previous records set by HKS and Cusco.
I've been neglecting my blog for the last couple weeks with tests and what not, but I've been keeping an eye on my regular blogs as well as watching over some older NSX video's from best motoring.
I'm becoming more and more of a fan of these cars every time I see them, maybe my next car will be a
lightly used nsx... (I can dream for now!)

Snow Day
Every so often the thought of taking my summer car out for a drive on a winter day rolls around
It may be snowing a foot a minute but the need to hear screaming revs and feel the wind calls me.
I've been wanting to get the car out a lot this winter, so when good weather came around I got a bizarre idea, a snow photo session. I especially wanted a top down snowing photo, its something I'd never
seen browsing s2k forums. Special thanks to my buddy Kaya and his awesome photography, and my school
buddies Twinny and Marcus (and Twinny's gf) for coming along and bearing the cold also.
Old School
A friend of mine sent me this video and I have to say it brought a smile to my face
Jeremy Clarkson, Keiichi Tsuchiya, Drifting, The Midnight Club and R32's in their prime
An oldie but a goodie...

Fairlady Love pt1
I've never owned a Nissan but if I ever did get one it'd be a Fairlady Z model.
This Z31 is probably the nicest I've ever seen, retro styling at its finest !

F20Civic?
I came across this amazingly unique swap some time back, an F20C from an S2000 swapped into an EG hatch.
This reminds me of my first car, an EG hatchback which at the time I wanted to get rid of for an FR as fast as possible.
We were all into drifting, and the idea that FR cars were the best. (Initial D might have something to do with that).
Too bad I didnt know much about swaps and Honda's back in highschool, my car was rust free and was a perfect candidate for a B16, B18 or H22 swap.
There are a crazy number of possibilities, like Hasport's newest, a J series V6 swap.
I've since come to realize that FF cars have some very good uses both on and off the track,
Hasport blows my mind!

Stratotech Park
Last summer I ran with a group in Edmonton called P1 HPDE on Stratotech Park Raceway.
I'd been wanting to run on Stratotech for awhile but wasn't sure if I should run with the racing school I had attended before
or try to find a different group of people to run with.
P1 is all about Time Attack and they ended up being an amazing set to run with.
As I'd been to Stratotech before to watch drifting back in 07, I had a vague idea of how the layout was,
but once I hit the track it became apparent how different it was than Racecity's high speed corners and long-bomb straights.
Its a tough course with tough corners, late apex's and more technical than I was used to.
an amazing Dogfight between a Lan Evo 2 and an R33 GTR,
I'd been watching them run around really close for a few laps and I could see the Evo wanted to get by really bad.
and just as I looked up from taking the previous shot...
was pretty close, the funny thing I didnt manage to get a picture of was the Evo's brakes bursting into flames after the quick stop.
An awesome pic by my buddy coming down the short straight.
(It may look like I was ahead but trust me I was being thrashed by that mustang all day)

Learnin to Blog...
Well here it is,
the first post in what I hope will be an ongoing Autoblog about just about everything I think about racing, tuning and the awesome stuff that makes us all so crazy about the auto scene. My hope is to bring lots of original content and pictures from track days, meets, and general fun / jack-assery from around Calgary and what the scene means to me.
Good way to start... A photo of Type-One, Spoon Sports own Garage
(something local Tuners could learn alot from!)
